Polykarpos Dimitra Pure Organic EVOO
The organic extra virgin olive oil Polykarpos Dimitra Pure is a unique product due to the way it is cultivated and also due to the complex taste and olfactory impressions of this particular variety.
The early harvesting and the meticulous olive extraction, storage and standardisation give the product a high nutritional value as well as unripe fruit and herb aromas. Enjoy an intense sense of freshness in the nose from aromas of freshly cut grass, tomato leaves, artichoke and green apple, which, coupled with medium intensity bitter and spicy elements on the palate, give an unparalleled dimension to our sensory journey.
Description
Polykarpos Dimitra – Polykarpos Dimitra Pure Organic EVOOThe island of Lesvos, known for its long tradition in olive cultivation, is the place where the Xyptera family cultivates and produces the organic extra virgin olive oil Polycarpos Dimitra Pure. The family’s organic olive groves are located in Plomari, in the southern part of Lesvos, in an area of 500 acres where the respect and harmonization with the natural environment with predominant characteristics the Mediterranean climate of the region, the location of the olive groves at a relatively low altitude and the volcanic subsoil, have a catalytic effect on the cultivation, especially during the period of flowering and fruiting. At the same time, the method of organic cultivation creates an ecosystem free of toxic residues and shields the trees from micro-organisms and pests.
Taking the baton from their parents, the three children of the Xypteras family, Panagiotis, with studies in Agriculture, Giannis with studies in Economics and Dimitris, who specializes in olive cultivation, combined their cognitive subjects and in 2022 they created Polykarpos Dimitra. The choice of the distinctive name “Polykarpos Dimitra” refers to the mother of the children who bears the name Dimitra, while Polykarpos (the one who bears many fruits) refers to the goddess Dimitra who in Greek mythology was the goddess of agriculture
Harvesting begins in early October when the fruit is still unripe. The olive extraction process begins on the same day, immediately after the fruit is picked, using the cold pressing method. The harvested olive oil is kept in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
The variety cultivated for the production of Polykarpos Dimitra Pure Organic EVOO is Kolovi.
