Liogennito Megaritiki Organic EVOO
Liogennito Megaritiki Organic EVOO is a single varietal extra virgin olive oil from the native variety Megaritiki.
Its name is a compound word between the noun ‘sun’ and the verb ‘give birth’, symbolizing the birth of olive oil in the light of the sun – a meeting of two opposing forces: rootedness in matter-earth and freedom of the spirit-sun.
The uniqueness of the variety provides an unparalleled tasting experience, offering a complexity of moderate to intense aromas from tomato, fresly cut grass, olive leaf, fig leaf and flowers while the mild notes of bitter and stronger notes of the spicy element leave a velvety yet rich aftertaste in the mouth with hints of green pepper.
Description
Liogennito – Liogennito Megaritiki Organic EVOOThe Magavalis family counts already four generations in the cultivation of olives and the production of extra virgin olive oil in the region of Mycenae. Based on the tradition and the accumulated knowledge of the previous generations, combined with modern organic farming methods and the scientific background of the new generation, the excellent quality and high nutritional value of the final product is ensured.
The family’s organic olive groves extend in the area of Mycenae on a slope of 50 acres, while the other 80 acres are scattered on the plateau of the village of Prosimna, where its privileged geographical position, built at an altitude of 250 meters, in a closed valley that communicates with the Argolic plain through the gorge of Kleisoura, is a guarantee of prosperity.
Harvesting begins in October, when the fruit is still unripe, and is carried out exclusively by mechanical methods, thus ensuring the integrity of the fruit. The olive extraction begins on the same day, immediately after the fruit is picked, and is carried out by cold pressing in a two-phase cooperative mill. Storage in stainless steel tanks and under controlled temperature conditions ensure the excellent quality and shelf life of the final product.
